Nine results. Not one of them is written for somebody who already has an app.

That is often not who is typing it. A large share of the people asking who these sellers are already have something running: a booking tool made in Lovable over a weekend, a client portal out of Base44, a Replit app four staff open every morning. What they need is to know which kind of seller will take on the thing that exists, and what each kind is genuinely good for, rather than a build.

The label covers everything from a two-person studio to an enterprise supplier with a certification wall, and it says nothing at all about whether the firm will touch code somebody else generated.

The sellers themselves define it about that way. Octave Agency, a UK shop whose category page at octaveagency.com/vibe-coding-agency/ was read on 29 August 2026, writes that a vibe coding agency “is a software studio that puts AI coding assistants at the heart of how it builds products”. Instinctools, an enterprise supplier whose page at instinctools.com/vibe-coding-services/ was read the same day, calls itself a vibe coding development company and describes the model as one where “AI agents draft code, tests, and glue logic while engineers curate them”. Neither is linked here, because both sell what AxonBuild sells. Two firms, very different sizes, same definition.

Two quite different buyers arrive on that definition. The first wants an app and would like it faster and cheaper than a conventional firm can manage. Almost the entire first page is written for that person. The second already prompted an app into existence, watched it start carrying real customers, and now needs somebody who can read what the tool produced. One buyer put the tool half of that story into a single line on a public forum: “I’m not a developer… Started with Base44 and hit some limitations… Moved to Lovable”. They are shopping for whoever inherits the result rather than for a build.

The composition of that first page is the argument for this one. Of the nine organic results for vibe coding agency on 29 August 2026, three were sellers or seller-run rankings, one was a paid directory listing, three explained what vibe coding is rather than who does it, one was a community thread asking whether these agencies are the new web design shops, and one was a repository of tools. Row one is where most people start and where most people are disappointed, because the marketplace filter is organised around categories of person rather than around the state of your app. Row two is a staffing arrangement wearing a project’s clothes. Row three is the one the phrase on this page usually points at. Row four barely exists as a category on any search result, which is why it is the row nobody arrives already knowing about.

The first three rows usually assume somebody has already decided what needs doing, though a supplier in any of them can sell the diagnosis too, as Instinctools’ audit and cleanup line shows. The assumption is the whole problem with an app an AI builder made, because the person who owns it usually cannot say what is wrong beyond the symptom they can see. Buyers do describe the shape they want, when anybody asks them. One buyer put out an open call for people who take on work that somebody else abandoned partway. Another wanted a steady arrangement with one shop, billed by the hour, across several applications they already owned. Those are two different rows of the table, bought for two different reasons, and neither buyer would have been well served by the other’s seller.

Whichever row you pick, the mechanics of the transfer are the same, and they are worth settling before money moves. What taking an app over actually involves before anybody starts covers the four capabilities a new person needs and which accounts stay in your business’s name.

Weighing one independent developer against a firm, for a single application that already runs, turns on control rather than on price, and it is worked through on its own. Whether what you need is a standing group of people rather than one person is a separate question from which shape of seller you buy from. Sending the work to a company in another country and another time zone changes the working day more than it changes the code. And when what is left is the last stretch rather than a repair, paying one person to finish what was started is a narrower purchase than any of the four shapes above.

The work waiting inside an AI-built app is mostly triage

The reason the shape of the seller matters is that the work waiting inside these apps is rarely the work the seller is organised to do. Twenty-six real applications were audited in June and July 2026 in three groups: eleven third-party apps in the deep-audit set, ten held-out third-party apps the engine had never seen, and five of the founder’s own. What the audits found across the 26 apps is that scores ran from 29 to 81 out of 100 across all 26, with 52.1 the mean and 51 the median.

The bands across those same 26 were 22 red, 4 amber and 0 green. Not one came out clean, including the five the founder built. The ten held-out apps were audited blind and produced no false alarms against hand-checked ground truth, which is a check on the method behind the ranking below rather than on the ranking itself.

Across the 21 third-party apps, the three weakest areas measured were reliability and correctness, dependencies and supply chain, and deployment and operations. The strongest was secrets and credentials, which is the opposite of the story people expect. The average score for dependencies and supply chain was 34.5 out of 100, across the 20 apps where that area applied.

Read that ranking as a description of the job. The weakest areas are the invisible ones: whether the thing keeps working when two people press the same button, whether anybody knows what version of what library is installed, whether a bad release can be put back. None of that shows up in a demo, and none of it is what a firm organised around shipping new features is set up to find. A seller whose whole process starts with “what would you like us to build” will build you something on top of the part that is already carrying the weight.

That is also why the honest first question is often whether the app is worth continuing with at all. Whether the answer is a clean-up or starting again is a decision with its own arithmetic, and it is better made before you hire than after.

Who publishes the ranked lists, and where each one puts itself

Two ranked lists of the best vibe coding companies sit across these three searches, one on the main search and one on the search for vibe coding companies. Both were read in full on 29 August 2026. Both were published by agencies. Both put their own publisher at number one.

The first, at entrans.ai/blog/top-vibe-coding-development-companies and dated 23 June 2026, names ten companies with its publisher at the top and states its selection criteria openly: years of service, expertise, client ratings on Clutch, G2 and GoodFirms, development process, and pricing. It publishes no rates. Its own cost question is answered with the sentence that prices “may vary from budget-friendly packages to enterprise-level support plans”. Across the whole page it says nothing about taking on an app a client already built with an AI builder.

The second, at gemeosagency.com/en/blog/top-10-best-vibe-coding-agencies and published 7 August 2026 with an update stamped 27 August 2026, does the same thing with a longer table. Its own agency sits at number one. It is also the only page on any of the three searches that treats an existing AI-built app as a purchase at all: its price table carries a row for taking over a project an AI built, and the budget column for that row says the number comes after somebody has looked at the code. That is the correct answer, and it is one row inside a ranking of the publisher’s competitors.

That page also prints general budget guidance for the market. Gemeos puts a prototype at roughly 2,000 to 5,000 euros and anything it calls a complex application above 10,000 euros, and it says plainly that these are rough estimates from observed public pricing rather than a pricing study. Octave publishes a first-party figure on its own page, read the same day: vibe coded MVPs there typically start around 8,000 pounds for a two to three week build, with larger work priced per sprint. Both numbers describe building something new. For work on an app that already exists, what this kind of work costs, seller by seller is the page that goes through it properly, and it is the only place a price question belongs.

Three of the seller and directory pages could not be read at all. The brand-name shop at position one, at thevibecodingagency.com, returned HTTP 403 to an automated read on 29 August 2026. GoodFirms’ vibe coding category at goodfirms.co/companies/vibe-coding returned 403 the same day, and the listing at dirjournal.com/computers/ai_implementation_operations/vibe_coding_agencies/ returned 429. A page that refuses a plain read is a fetch limitation, so nothing at all is claimed here about what any of the three contains or charges.

Supply is real even where the buyer evidence is thin. On 23 July 2026, r/WebDeveloperJobs carried a post titled How Does A Web Agency Go From $0K To $20K+ MRR In Under A Year?. The figure in that title is somebody’s own headline, not a market fact and not a number this page stands behind. What it evidences is that shops are actively working out how to sell into this, which is the same thing the two self-ranked lists evidence from the other direction.

Vibe coding services and vibe coding companies: three purchases behind one phrase

The vocabulary in this market is unsettled, and the search results prove it. On the search for vibe coding companies, five of the nine organic results were lists of software rather than lists of suppliers: two roundups of the best vibe coding tools, an encyclopaedia entry, a bank’s founder guide and a platform ranking thread. The highest-volume phrase in the whole family mostly returns products. On vibe coding services, seven of the nine were definitional or product pages, and only one was a company actually selling the service.

Underneath the phrase there are three separate purchases. Build me one, which is what nearly every ranked page answers. Finish or repair the one I have, which is what almost nobody answers. And teach my own people to work this way, which is a training arrangement sold to companies with developers already on staff. Instinctools sells all three: alongside its build work that same page publishes a section named Vibe Code Audit and Cleanup for systems that are part built and not ready for production, which it describes as sanity-checking the architecture, stabilising the codebase, restructuring it for scale and reinforcing security on the way to production readiness. No price appears anywhere on that page. It is the closest thing on any of these searches to what the second reader wants, and it is written for an enterprise buyer.

What the shops sell under vibe coding development services is a vibe coding development process rather than a product: agents draft, engineers curate, somebody signs off before it ships. The job titles are just as loose. A vibe coding developer, a vibe coding programmer, a vibe coder dev and a senior vibe coding developer are four ways of advertising for the same person, and none of them tells you whether that person has ever opened somebody else’s generated code. A vibe coding expert and a vibe coding app developer are advertised with the same looseness. Roughly, somebody searching for a vibe coding dev wants one person and somebody searching for vibe coding services wants a company, but nobody should buy on that inference alone.

The quiet third case is the one the market barely names. One person put it on a forum this way: “Most of what gets posted here is about building things for clients or launching SaaS. Makes sense. But I’m curious about the more boring use case: running the backend of your own small practice or service business with these tools.” Those apps are not startups and never will be. They are the till, the rota, the client list. They still break, and the person who owns one has the hardest time finding a seller, because every ranked page assumes a product with a launch date.

Two named purchases sit next to this one and are answered elsewhere. How agency pricing is put together, and what the money buys after launch, is a question about how those firms are built rather than about your app. Firms that market themselves as AI app development companies are organised around new builds, and the care of one that already runs is staffed and priced differently. Running the hire, from the first message through to the day somebody opens the code, is a sequence rather than a choice of seller. And when the job is the last stretch rather than a rescue, the thing you are buying narrows again.

A Bolt.new software development company, and the other shops named after a builder

A growing number of sellers advertise by builder brand: a Lovable shop, a Bubble shop, a Bolt.new software development company. The claim sorts sellers on a real axis, and then it invites you to read far more into it than it can carry.

The real part: each builder produces a distinct shape of application, and somebody who has taken three of them to production knows things a general developer will spend a week discovering. What the export actually contains and what it silently leaves behind. Which database sits underneath and who can reach it. Where the meter runs. What breaks the first time a real user does something out of order. That knowledge is specific, and it is knowledge rather than a rate.

The over-read: the job is usually the same job whatever made the app. Sign-in that holds, money that arrives, roles that hold their line, a release that can be put back. A shop advertising one brand is describing its recent clients rather than a separate discipline, and plenty of good ones simply have not bothered to advertise a brand at all.

The vendors run their own versions of this. Lovable’s partner page at lovable.dev/partners, titled “Partner with Lovable” and read on 29 August 2026, invites firms to apply as solution partners to help companies design, build and ship with the tool. No listing inside any such directory is quoted or linked here. Agencies also use these builders to deliver their own client work, which is a separate business from taking over yours.

Then the tool-specific ones. What somebody who knows Lovable can see in a Lovable project begins with the database layer sitting underneath it. The two things people mean when they type Lovable agency, the vendor’s own partner list and a shop that takes the app to production, are answered together. The jobs Base44 owners pay somebody else to do, once the builder stops short, are a short and specific list. With Replit, what somebody who knows that platform checks before touching a deployment is shorter than you would expect and very specific. Further along, what a developer does with a Bolt export once it leaves the browser is most of that job. On the older no-code side, what somebody fluent in Bubble can fix, and what only a rebuild fixes, splits more cleanly than it does elsewhere, and Bubble’s own agency programme and a shop that takes over a Bubble application are two different answers to one search.

Cursor and v0 shops sit slightly to one side of that list, because those tools produce code inside a normal repository rather than inside a hosted builder. A shop advertising Cursor fluency is telling you about how its engineers work, not about the shape of the thing you own.
